Another One Of The Chibok Girls Escapes

The Nigerian Army on Saturday, November 5 said it discovered one of the Chibok schoolgirls, Maryam Ali Maiyanga, among escapees from the Boko Haram terrorist group hideout in Sambisa forest. Colonel Sabi Usman, Acting Director Army Public Relations, stated this in a statement released on Saturday, adding that the girl was discovered carrying a 10-month-old son, named Ali.

The statement reads, “Troops of 121 Battalion, Nigerian Army, deployed at Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State, for Operation Lafiya Dole today, Saturday  November 5, 2016 at about 6am, while screening some escapees from Boko Haram terrorists hideout in Sambisa forest, discovered one of the abducted Government Secondary School Chibok girls, named Maryam Ali Maiyanga among them.”

“She was discovered to be carrying a 10-month-old son, named Ali and has been taken to the unit’s medical facility for proper medical check-up.”

“It is imperative to state that troops have been working round the clock to clear remnants of Boko Haram terrorists wherever they might be hibernating and also rescue all persons held hostages by terrorists.”

Meanwhile, the BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) group has confirmed Ali Maiyanga as one of the missing Chibok girls.

The group said in a statement by Sesugh Akume, its spokesperson, “We welcome news of the return of another of our abducted #ChibokGirls.”

“Preliminary investigations on our part, show that Maryam Ali (Number 198 on our list), a school prefect, is from Askira Uba and was abducted along with her twin, Halima Ali (Number 197), who is yet to return. We shall update the public with more details as necessary.”
