About 50 Shiites Killed By The Nigerian Army

By Ikenga Chronicles October 30, 2018

About fifty members of the Shiites’ Islamic Movement of Nigeria(IMN) are feared dead, with over 200 injured in clashes with security operatives on Monday.

The clash which occurred along the Nyanya-Keffi expressway, saw members of the Nigerian army open fire on Shiite protesters, who were calling for the release of their leader, Ibrahim El Zakzaky.

According to Mohammed Gamara, a member of the group;

“So far, I don’t have the exact number of the casualties and the martyrs but if we say they are more than 50 killed by the Nigerian army, I don’t think I will be exaggerating.”

Three members of the group were also reportedly killed on Saturday, in another clash with the Nigerian army, in Abuja.

According to Major General James Myam, of the Army HQ Garrison, the group set up an illegal roadblock, and attacked troops escorting missiles and ammunition from Abuja to the Army Central Ammunition Depot, Kaduna.

Recall that several courts had ruled that Ibrahim El Zakzaky be granted bail, but the Muhammadu Buhari administration has consistently refused to honour those court orders.
