Abia Set To Establish Leather and Garment Factory In Aba
The Abia state government has concluded plans to set up a garment and leather cluster in the commercial city of Aba.
This week, the state’s commissioner for Industry,Science and Technology, and renowned industrialist Chief Henry Ikoh led ministry officials, traditional rulers and leather and garment union leaders to the site allotted for this factory.

According to reports from Abia Online, the state governor will be laying the foundation stone for the site, which is located at the metallurgical centre, in Umuokahia.

As part of plans to ensure that this is done well, the state government last year sent some garment and leather makers to Turkey to study the methods used in garment and shoe making, and for the acquisition of state-of-the-art processing machines.
According to the report, the trainees from la st year’s Turkey visit, will serve as the pilot staff for the industry.
This effort is part of the state government’s commitment towards creating more employment opportunities for youths.
