Abia Mall And Shoprite Umuahia Officially Open For Business

The Abia Retail and Shopping Mall has been officially commissioned by the state government, and is now open for business. The commissioning and opening of the Mall took place yesterday, November 24 at Umuahia.



The official opening was carried out by the State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu. Dr. Ikpeazu was flanked by the immediate past governor of the state and senator representing Abia Central, Senator T.A Orji, and the Chairman House Committee on Climate Change, and representative of Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives Chief Sam Onuigbo.

The Abia Mall, which currently houses famous retail shop, Shoprite is situated at Amuzukwu,Umuahia, which falls under the constituencies of both Senator T.A Orji and Rep. Sam Onuigbo.

According to Abia Online,the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, while speaking at the occasion, said the mall will be a hub of opportunities for people all over the world to do business, adding that Abia now belongs to the comity of States that have Shoprite.

The governor who has been the major ambassador of Made-In-Aba products further requested that Made-in-Aba products, such as shoes and bags are displayed alongside foreign ones in the mall. Dr. Ikpeazu stated that he is very confident that the Made-In-Aba products will sell better because they are of higher quality.

The governor then thanked his predecessor Senator T. A. Orji for initiating the project and said that government has many reasons to be proud of him.


Reacting,Senator T. A. Orji expressed his happiness at being alive to see the mall commissioned. He explained that the mall was a product of an MoU between the Abia State government and investors and debunked rumours that the mall belongs to him. The senator clarified that he does not even own a shop in the mall,and proceeded to thank the people of Amuzukwu on whose land the mall was built, for being accommodating.

In his vote of thanks,Managing Director of Abia Mall, Mr. Chuka Okoye thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu,Senator T. A Orji, Rep. Sam Onuigbo and his team members for their support and promised that quality products will be sold at the mall.
