Abia House of Assembly Crisis: No Threat To Gov. Ikpeazu’s Position

By Ikenga Chronicles December 30, 2016

Following the impeachment of the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Barrister Martins Azubuike, speculations have once again emerged that the impeachment was part of a larger pre-election plan that will culminate with the emergence of Engr. Chinedum Orji, son of the immediate past governor of Abia, T.A Orji, as the governor of Abia State.The speculations have now been rubbished by a source close to the political power brokers in the state.

According to the source, even though Engr. Orji is from Abia Central(the Senatorial zone that should produce the Speaker under PDP’s zoning arrangements),he made it clear from the very beginning that he had no intentions of contesting the Speakership.

Speaking further, the source said;

“The rumors of threat to the Governor is the figment of imagination of lazy conjurers. Ignore them with absolute pleasure.”

“Injecting the name of the majority leader, Engr Chinedum Orji, was meant to sell media copies and perpetuate the fallacious narrative of hired jobbers and their paymasters. Even before he was elected, Engr Orji made it clear he was not interested in the office of Speaker. Please leave him alone as you have once again confirmed he is true to his word.”

Meanwhile, Gov Okezie Ikpeazu is expected to present the 2017 budget before the house later today.
