Constituency Projects:

1. Umuahia – Ikwuano – Ikot Ekpene Road:

Sam Onuigbo’s major constituency achievement is his interface with the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing to repair the dilapidated Umuahia – Ikwuano – Ikot Ekpene road which has been a nightmare to his people and transporters plying the route. He had raised a motion on the road on the floor of the House and worked tirelessly and ensured it was included in the 2016 budget, and followed through with direct inspection of the bad portions before getting the Ministry to appreciate the level of degradation and subsequently request FERMA to act while a total reconstruction will follow.

The flag off of the repairs of the road was carried out on Friday, December 16, 2016.

2. Scholarships, Trainings, and Direct Engagement With His Constituents To Ascertain Needs:

Rep. Onuigbo has within the year, sustained his several scholarship programmes; maintained direct interface/engagements with his constituents through meetings and events, and projected the interest of his constituency in the 2016 budget.

He has also provided several trainings for skills acquisition for his constituents. For instance, in September, through his efforts, an Entrepreneurship skills acquisition programme held at Kolping Society, Umuahia. Also, the National Automation Council Training held for mechanics providing them with necessary training and machines in their workshop held at Mgbuka, Ohiya Mechanic village, Umuahia in November.

Rep. Onuigbo has also organised a training and skills acquisition for youths and women through the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology, Lagos for people who want to acquire knowledge in fish farming and feed production.

3. Construction of School Blocks: Some other constituency projects by Rep. Onuigbo in the year under review include; the construction of school blocks in Ekebedi, in Oboro, Ikwuano LGA, and Old Umuahia in Umuahia South LGA.

4. Health Centre Renovation: Sam Onuigbo has also engaged in the construction and renovation of Health Centres in Obuohia Obi-Ibere, and Oloko.

5. Construction of Inter-village Roads: Mr. Onuigbo has ensured that the 3km Akpahia Obi – Ohuru road, Afugiri, Umuahia North and the 9.5 km road at Okwe- Obuohia Umuemenike- Ahia Orie in Ikwuano, are all included in the NDDC budget.

6. Provision of Employment: It is worth noting, that Rep. Onuigbo has assisted well over 50 indigenes of his constituency to gain employment in both public and Private Establishments.

7. Support For National Youth Service Corps Members: Prior to his election as the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Rep. Sam Onuigbo had a running programme wherein he provides support (especially financial) for National Youth Service members posted to his constituency. In the year 2016, he continued with this project as he provided series of support for the corps members.

Conclusion:

Rep. Sam Onuigbo believes that every elected official should be accountable to his/her people. This has necessitated a need for him to always report back to the people in the form of yearly reviews of all of his activities. These activities are verifiable. Having put it out there, the people are to verify and grade Rep. Onuigbo accordingly.
