PDP Leadership Tussle: The PDP Is In Our Prayers–APC

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has said that the APC wishes for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to resolve its leadership crisis as soon as possible, so that they can provide a viable opposition to the ruling party.

Abdullahi stated this in Abuja, on Tuesday.

The PDP, is currently unstable following lingering leadership crises that has fractured the party terribly.

Speaking, Abdullahi said, “we [APC] pray for them to put their house in order soon because we believe that democracy is better served when the opposition is alive.”

He however pointed out that the PDP can only move forward if it stops blaming others for its woes, and gave the example of the allegation by the Senator Ahmed Makarfi faction that the APC stopped them from using the International Conference Centre (ICC) for a post-appeal court judgement stakeholders’ meeting.

“However, we also know the PDP can only begin to take steps towards recovery if they stop peddling conspiracy theories and blaming imaginary enemies.’’

Reacting to the ICC situation and the allegation that the APC is sponsoring Modu Sheriff to be a destabilizing agent, thus influencing the Appeal court judgement, the Publicity Secretary said;

“Neither of these allegations is true in any respect, the Police does not take instructions from the APC. The police have explained why they stopped the Makarfi group from meeting at the ICC. If the factional PDP is dissatisfied with the police explanation, they could seek further clarifications from the police or pursue alternative means of redress.”

He urged the PDP to put its house in order, and provide viable opposition for in the interest of the nation’s democracy.
